Our grinder runs on tracks, so it can cross lawns and work in tight spots where an excavator can’t go.

Grinding is quick, but a little planning makes the result better.
- Below ground levelWe grind the stump down below the surface so you can topsoil, turf, pave or gravel over it.
- The grindingsUsed to fill the hole, left as mulch, or taken away. Soil is best if you’re replanting on the spot.
- Surface rootsLarge roots running out from the stump can be ground too — just tell us what you want gone.
- Underground servicesTell us about pipes, cables or septic lines near the stump so we can plan around them.
- Clean-upChips are raked back from paths and garden beds, and the area left tidy.

Will the tree grow back?
Grinding removes the stump and the base of the tree, which stops most trees regrowing. A few species can sucker from their roots; if yours is one, we’ll tell you what to watch for.
Can I plant a new tree in the same spot?
Yes, but swap the grindings for good soil first, and ideally plant slightly off the old spot so the new roots aren’t fighting old wood.
Can you get into my backyard?
Usually. The grinder is compact and tracked. Tell us your narrowest gate or path when you enquire, and we’ll confirm access at the free site assessment.
Is stump grinding included when you remove a tree?
Only if it’s in the quote — we list it separately so you can choose.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the stump — its diameter, the number of stumps, surface roots and access,: size, species and condition, how close it is to buildings or lines, how easy it is to get gear in, and what you want done with the wood, chips and stump. That’s why we look first. The site assessment is free and your quote is a fixed price for the agreed work — the price we quote is the price you pay.
