Why Choose Us

There’s a Faster, Cleaner Way to Clear

The old way — dozers tearing up your topsoil, then costly haulage or risky burn piles — is slow, messy, and leaves the land scarred and prone to erosion. Mulching skips all of that.

At Otway Tree Care, we use forestry mulching across Colac and the Otways to turn standing vegetation, brush, and invasive species — including gorse and blackberry — into nutrient-rich mulch in a single pass. There are no burn piles, no haulage costs, and no struggle with the terrain. We leave your soil structure intact while instantly increasing the usability and value of your property.

What Makes Us Different

What Makes Our Land Clearing Different

Sustainable tree care icon

Rapid Land Reclamation

Our specialised mulching heads can clear acres of dense scrub and invasive weeds in a fraction of the time it takes manual crews. For sites with heavy timber or logs, our waste removal service can handle the larger debris alongside the mulching.

Fire Fuel Load Management

Protect your assets by reducing "ladder fuels." We create strategic fire breaks and clear undergrowth to significantly lower the fire risk on your Otway property.

Sustainable tree care icon

Invasive Species Control

Implementing plans with the correct knowledge and applications to eradicate Invasive species saving you time and money.

Sustainable tree care icon

Low-Impact Technology

Unlike bulldozers, our mulchers don't "grub" the stumps out, meaning your precious topsoil stays put, preventing erosion and keeping your land healthy.

All-Weather Capability

Our tracked machines are designed for the rugged Otway landscape, allowing us to work on slopes and in conditions where wheeled tractors would get bogged.

The "Instant Park" Finish

We leave the mulch behind as a protective layer for your soil. Your property goes from "overgrown scrub" to "manageable parkland" in a single day. Once your land is cleared, our property maintenance service can keep it that way year-round — with scheduled visits so it never gets out of hand again.

What is the maximum size tree a forestry mulcher can handle?

Our mulchers can comfortably handle standing trees up to 200–300mm in diameter, as well as fallen logs and dense brush. For larger trees, we bring in additional specialised equipment to prepare the site first.

Can I walk or drive on the land immediately after mulching?

Yes! One of the biggest benefits of mulching is that it leaves a stable "carpet" of woodchips. This suppresses dust, prevents mud, and makes the land immediately accessible.

Is forestry mulching cheaper than traditional clearing?

Because it eliminates the need for multiple machines (dozers, loaders, trucks) and removes the cost of waste disposal, it is typically 30–50% more cost-effective for large projects.

Will the mulch help my soil?

Absolutely. The mulch acts as a natural "blanket" that retains moisture, prevents erosion, and slowly breaks down to return nutrients to the soil.

Can you work on steep hills?

Yes. Our tracked machinery is specifically chosen for the hilly terrain of the Otways, providing the traction and stability needed for safe slope work.

Do I need a permit for land clearing?

This depends on your local council overlays. We can provide the right information to help you determine what permits are required before we begin the project.
